Iranian Authorities Arrest Thirteen in Qom Over Starlink Equipment
Security officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the detainees were accused of carrying out what they described as “anti-security activities.” Reports indicated that three Starlink satellite receivers were seized during the operation.
In a separate development, four additional people were taken into custody in Tehran. Authorities accused them of transmitting sensitive details about missile strike locations and bombing sites to Iran International, which officials labeled a “terrorist organization,” according to reports.
The developments come as authorities maintain tighter controls over online access. Reports indicated that restrictions have been imposed on internet services, social media platforms, and messaging applications, prompting many users to rely on virtual private networks (VPNs) to bypass the limitations.
In earlier years, Elon Musk said that roughly 100 Starlink satellites were helping provide internet connectivity support within Iran.
