Iranian Strikes Damage Multiple U.S. Sites in Middle East
Of the damaged locations, at least 11 are military bases or facilities, accounting for nearly half of all American military establishments in the region.
Among the heaviest losses were air defense systems. Satellite imagery displayed harm to a "$1.1 billion early-warning radar" near Umm Dahal, Qatar, which is engineered to monitor an area spanning a 4,800-kilometer (3,000-mile) radius.
The analysis also indicated that Iran struck elements of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, commonly referred to as THAAD.
A Pentagon evaluation estimated that damage to the U.S. Navy Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, hit on February 28, reached approximately $200 million, according to a congressional official cited by the newspaper.
Iranian attacks additionally targeted U.S. diplomatic sites, prompting temporary closures of the consulate in Dubai as well as embassies in Kuwait City and Riyadh. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in any of these incidents.
U.S. officials informed the news outlet that these assaults demonstrate Iran was "more prepared for the war than many in the Trump administration had anticipated."
