Turkey is to hold tech festival TEKNOFEST in Istanbul
The four-day festival, organized by the Istanbul Shipyard Command, will spotlight the country’s naval capabilities and advanced technological developments, welcoming visitors from August 28 to 31, according to reports.
Competitions at the event will include unmanned underwater systems, underwater rockets, and autonomous maritime vehicles.
The Turkish Navy will display several of its most sophisticated vessels, including the TCG Anadolu amphibious assault ship, TCG Istanbul frigate, TCG Burgazada anti-submarine corvette, TCG Orucreis frigate, TCG Nusret minelayer, as well as the TCG Sakarya and TCG Hizirreis submarines.
In addition to military technology, TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland will feature exhibitions on maritime history and culture, interactive virtual reality (VR) experiences, and a series of conferences.
Registered visitors will be able to attend the events, which are open to the public on August 30 and 31. Attendance will be organized into three sessions: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with each visitor allowed to join only one session.
The Blue Homeland Article and Picture Competitions, part of the festival, aim to help younger generations understand Türkiye's maritime jurisdiction areas, national security policies, and geopolitical vision, while fostering scientific, critical, and creative thinking on these topics.
For the essay competition, high school, undergraduate, and graduate students are expected to submit original essays between 500 and 1,000 words. These essays will be published on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
The initiative is designed to enhance research and critical thinking skills among high school students, as well as promote academic analysis and scientific approaches at the university level.
