Trump Threatens to Cut USD3B in Harvard Grants

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump intensified his administration’s pressure on Harvard University Monday by threatening to withdraw $3 billion in federal grant money and reallocate it to trade schools across the country.

On Truth Social, Trump stated, "I am considering taking Three Billion Dollars of Grant Money away from a very antisemitic Harvard, and giving it to TRADE SCHOOLS all across our land." He added, "What a great investment that would be for the USA, and so badly needed."

In a separate message, Trump criticized Harvard as "very slow" for delaying submission of foreign student lists requested by the administration, accusing the school of obstructing efforts to identify which "radicalized lunatics" should be barred from re-entering the United States.

The administration has already attempted to revoke Harvard’s ability to enroll international students—a move currently blocked by a federal judge.

Last week, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem declared the administration would hold Harvard accountable for "fostering violence, antisemitism, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus."

The Trump administration has frozen $3 billion in federal funding and threatened Harvard’s tax-exempt status, citing campus protests supporting Palestine and certain diversity programs.

In response, Harvard sued the administration, alleging violations of the First Amendment and unlawful presidential interference with Internal Revenue Service activities.

Earlier, Trump had urged Harvard to rely on its $52 billion endowment instead of pursuing federal grants.
