Nvidia CEO Says AI will not Replace Humans
He emphasized that AI is designed to boost human decision-making capabilities, not to replace them entirely.
Huang underscored that while AI is capable of assisting, it cannot override the desires and decisions that define human autonomy.
He illustrated this point by saying, “My goals are my choice. If I want to go on vacation in Kyoto, it's not because the AI decided, because I decided it's my goal.”
According to him, essential elements like setting personal goals remain uniquely human.
He elaborated that fundamental processes such as determining objectives, monitoring progress, and adjusting to changing scenarios still require a human touch.
Huang noted, “We all need to have aspirations, and now AI will help us realize those aspirations and goals,” reflecting his belief that AI serves best as a facilitator of human ambition.
Encouraging a collaborative approach, Huang urged both companies and individuals to see AI as a partner, not a threat.
He stated, “Every company, every professional, everybody should learn to engage AI and make them companions and assistants and helpers and tutors and our teammates to help become more productive, more successful.”
This, he said, is the path to enhanced efficiency and achievement.
Addressing anxieties about job displacement, Huang argued that such fears are misguided. The true danger, he asserted, lies in lagging behind in AI adoption.
He believes that as the global economy strives to double—from USD100 trillion to USD200 trillion—this expansion cannot rely solely on demographic growth. Given challenges like workforce shortages and an aging population, he emphasized that AI is vital for economic advancement without needing a significantly larger labor force.
