Fiji Reveals National Plan to Safeguard Coral Reefs

(MENAFN) Fiji is moving swiftly to safeguard its coral reefs and bolster the communities that rely on them through a newly proposed National Action Plan for Coral Reef Conservation.

On Monday, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change teamed up with the Wildlife Conservation Society to convene a multi-stakeholder meeting in Suva, a broadcasting corporation reported.

This gathering aimed to blend scientific research with traditional knowledge, crafting a focused and actionable roadmap for reef protection.

The initiative will prioritize preserving marine ecosystems, ensuring food security, and supporting the livelihoods of those dependent on coral reefs, according to the report.

The ministry emphasized its commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to refine the plan, which is slated for presentation at global environmental forums later this year.
