AI Surpasses Humans in Emotional Intelligence

(MENAFN) Researchers in Switzerland have revealed that artificial intelligence outperformed human participants in a series of emotional intelligence evaluations.

The findings were shared on Thursday by a collaborative team from the Universities of Geneva and Bern.

The research involved administering assessments, initially designed for human evaluation, to six distinct AI systems. These assessments aimed to measure qualities such as empathy and the capacity to recognize, handle, and modulate emotional responses.

The comprehensive five-part examination included emotionally complex situations, such as choosing the best course of action when someone’s idea is taken credit for at the workplace.

The AI systems answered correctly in 82 percent of instances, while human participants achieved a lower success rate of 56 percent.

In the subsequent stage of the experiment, the scientists tasked ChatGPT with formulating fresh emotional intelligence tests.

These newly created tests were then reviewed by a group of more than 400 individuals. Their feedback indicated that the AI-generated assessments appeared just as genuine as those "not created by humans."
