Germany Bans Far-Right ‘Kingdom of Germany’

(MENAFN) German law enforcement carried out a sweeping operation across the country on Tuesday targeting the largest faction within the so-called “Reich Citizens” movement.

Officials described the coordinated action as a major step forward in combating extremist ideologies on the far right.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced that the group known as the “Kingdom of Germany” (“Königreich Deutschland”) has been officially prohibited and its financial resources confiscated.

The organization, which denies the legitimacy of the modern German government, was accused of establishing alternative governmental and economic frameworks.

“Today, we struck a significant blow against the so-called Reich Citizens and self-administrators,” Dobrindt declared.

“The members of this organization have created a 'counter-state' in our country and established criminal economic structures,” he explained.

The large-scale operation took place in the early hours and involved a significant deployment of police personnel across seven German states, including Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia.

Authorities conducted property searches, seized funds, and gathered proof of the group's unlawful activities aimed at undermining the constitution.

The movement, launched in 2012 by Peter Fitzek—who referred to himself as the “Supreme Sovereign”—has attracted thousands of followers disillusioned with the federal government.

The group had set up parallel systems mimicking state institutions, such as a “Royal Bank,” alternative healthcare services, insurance providers, and relief agencies.

“They consistently undermine the legal order and the state's monopoly on the use of force,” Dobrindt emphasized.

“They reinforce their supposed claim to power through antisemitic conspiracy narratives. This cannot be tolerated in our constitutional state.”
