India, Pakistan Exchange Conflicting Claims
This latest development underscores the persistent friction between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
According to a Pakistani state-run broadcaster, citing unnamed defense insiders, four Indian Rafale fighter planes were conducting aerial surveillance over Indian-administered Kashmir when the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) responded in a "timely" fashion.
The report emphasized that the Indian aircraft were detected while “patrolling” the territory controlled by India, without breaching the Line of Control — the unofficial boundary dividing the contested Himalayan area.
Pakistani media stated that Pakistani jets quickly identified the Indian planes in the area.
The outlet asserted that “as a result of PAF’s diligent action, the Indian Rafale jets panicked and were forced to flee,” highlighting a swift and efficient interception by the PAF.
On the other hand, Indian media presented a differing version of events. It confirmed that four Rafale jets from the Indian Air Force (IAF) were airborne above Indian-administered Kashmir during the same night.
The report noted, "On the night of April 29-30, four Rafale jets of the IAF patrolled in the PoK area while remaining within the Indian territorial boundaries," referencing the region known as Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
