Russian Envoy Says Russia, US Might Resume Talks
Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special envoy for foreign investment and economic cooperation, shared details during a press briefing on Thursday, revealing that he had met with representatives of US Leader Donald Trump's administration in Washington. Dmitriev emphasized that both sides had made "three steps forward" on various significant matters.
The topics covered during the talks included enhancing mutual relations, expanding business cooperation, and addressing the situation in Ukraine. Dmitriev stated, "As early as next week," in response to an inquiry about when further communication between Russia and the US might take place.
Additionally, Dmitriev noted that many American firms have expressed interest in re-entering the Russian market, particularly within the energy industry.
He described the discussions as the "beginning of a good and respectful" dialogue. However, Dmitriev also acknowledged the challenges posed by a "large number" of adversaries within the US government, including what he referred to as the "deep state," and pointed out that several foreign entities are working to hinder the ongoing dialogue and efforts to restore ties between the two nations.
